Contract Information
Here's the information for the type of software contract I'm seeking:
  • I develop web applications using ASP.NET, C#, VB, JavaScript, and SQL Server and Ajax.

  • I design and create the backend database using SQL Server.

  • I write or code all the software to display web forms, valid user input, and get data from the databse and display the data on web pages, or store user entered data into the database.

  • I don't do graphic design but I'll integrate the graphic designer's design into the web application.

  • I don't do Flash.

  • I prefer being the only developer on the project. There can be graphic designers or writers of content to assist on the project.

  • I prefer working on new projects, but might be willing to take on an existing web applciation under certain conditions

  • I would like to charge $60/hour.

  • I prefer projects 3 months or longer. However, I will take smaller projects.

  • I work remotely from my offices in Ayer, MA. I'm willing to travel to the client's site at the beginning of the project to meet the client. For local clients (within 1 hour drive) I'm willing to meet them occasionally during the project. Clients pay for travel and lodging if they are more than a reasonable drive from my offices in Ayer. Some clients are concerned about the developer working remotely\telecommute and they want the developer onsite. I've successfully created web application for clients in Boston and NYC so I don't need to be onsite.

  • I have all the web development tools on my computer that I need to create web applications (some clients who post Craigslist Ads ask what web development tools one has on their computer).

  • The key selling point I've been making is that "I fix botched web applications". My USA Green Card client had outsourced his web project to Indian developers. They didn't know what they were doing. I took over the project and fixed the database design and the code. The client makes good revenues from his site.

  • I'm writing an article titled "How to Create Successful Web Projects". I use this article to show potential clients my understanding of the software development process. The article is available as a PDF.

    I have a preliminary version ready. I will be asking a professional editor to edit the article.

  • I prefer working directly for the client. I don't like going through placement agencies because they usually take 30-40% of the client bill rate.
